A Smuggler's Song
This is a setting for Baritone and Orchestra of the 1906 poem by Rudyard Kipling contained in his book, Puck of Pook's Hill. It has six verses with a refrain after the first and the last, and I've used four different, but similar tunes to reflect the mood of the verses.    PLAY      VIEW SCORE and lyrics

Heaven Haven
Gerard Manley Hopkins' 1918 poem 'Heaven Haven - A Nun Takes the Veil' uses the imagery of springs and a safe harbour derived from George Herbert's poem 'The Temple' of 1633. I have set a verse from 'The Temple' for Baritone, followed by the Hopkins poem for Soprano, and the two voices combine in the middle and at the end. It has piano accompaniment.
